The Greater Muskegon Jaycees Annual Snowfest will return to Downtown Muskegon Saturday, February 2, 2019. The downtown winter festival features a jam-packed Saturday including popular events such as the “Battle of the Bowls Chili Cook-Off”, a "Battle of the Bloodies" competition, a Snow Volleyball Tournament and a Cornhole Tournament -- concluding the afternoon/evening with a downtown pub crawl.
The Cornhole and Snow Volleyball Tournament will run simultaneously on Western Avenue between 3rd and 4th street. Registration begins at 9am and tournaments begin at 10am. Trophies and cash prizes will be given to 1st and 2nd place teams in each tournament. Pre-event registration is requested (see above). Cost to play is $30 per cornhole team of 2 and $60 per volleyball team of 4.
Partnering with area restaurants and taverns is a key component in Snowfest. The popular Battle of the Bowls Chili Cook-off will take place from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, February 3rd at SMASH Bistro in Downtown Muskegon. Area restaurants will go head to head to see who has the best Chili. Chili samples will be sold in full (12 4oz samples) or half (6 4oz samples) tickets for $10 and $5 as a presale or $15 and $10 the day of the event.
This year is the second year of the "Battle of the Bloodies" -- a contest to identify Muskegon's favorite Bloody Mary. It will be held from 10:30am – 1:30pm at Racquet's Bar and Grille. Costs are $25 for presale and $30 at the door the day of the event and include a sample of each competitor's entry. Casting your vote for your favorite includes a full size Bloody Mary.
The 2019 Snowfest activities will conclude with Snowfest's Pub Crawl in partnership with downtown’s bars and restaurants, added in 2017 and quickly has become a staple of the event. Pub Crawl punch cards can be picked up from Racquet's on Saturday February 2nd between 3pm – 5pm. Completed cards that are returned will be entered into a prize drawing!
